Zak's first car was a 1968 Chevy Impala.
He loved this car.
11 years ago, when Zak and I met he was still driving this car but I never rode in it. On the night of our first official date he bought a 1995 Chevy pick up. Even though he kept the Impala he only ever drove the truck. For years, Zak's mom and dad stored the Impala in their driveway for him. When we bought our house, and had the space to store the car in our garage we hauled it over and it sat, untouched for years.
Zak had always dreamed of rebuilding the car with his boys but a few months ago he started thinking about selling it to make room in the garage and to make a little extra money. Then, a few weeks ago we posted it on Craigslist, thinking it would never sell, and a week ago we sold it.
I know it was a really hard decision for Zak but I think it was the right decision. We sold it to a guy named Domino and he was so excited to have it. After Zak loaded up and took it out to him he sent Zak an email saying, "Thank you. She's in good hands." It was good to know he was going to take good care of it and not tear it apart for parts. Who knows maybe we will see it out on the road in the future To me, this car was old and worn out but to Zak she was full of memories.
He will miss the car but will always have the memories.
