The Rodeo and The Rodeo Performance

Colton has been wanting to go to the Rodeo and see all of the action since last year. It's that time of year around here and Becky was able to get us tickets for Saturday.  We were all so excited to go.  Nanny, Grandad and Aunt Baa came along as well.  The boys have been to the Livestock Show before but never to the actual Rodeo.  Colt was so excited to see the Mutton Bustin'. I was nervous about the whole thing.  Usually when we go we go early and beat the crowd but since we were seeing the show we couldn't go too early.
We got there around 12:30 and it was WINDY and cool.  When we pulled into Reliant Colton, who was riding with Nanny, Grandad and Baa looked at Baa and said, "Holy Guacamole, it's huge.  It must have grown since last time."  Then when he saw the tram, "There is that train we go home on.  I'm gonna pass out on that train."  He was full of these funny comments all day! We got a good parking spot and loaded up on the tram to the entrance. This was one of the boys favorite parts of the day.
The Livestock Show was so crowded but the boys did awesome.  Colt walked around the whole time excited to see everything. We enjoyed lunch and a little boot and lasso shopping then we headed in for the show. The boys sat so well for the show.  Well, Colt sat for the show.  Chase stood and walked and wiggled but did really well all in all. We had no intention of staying for the singer but we made it through the entire Rodeo. Colt loved the bulls and Mutton Bustin'. It was so cool because we were watching on the big screen and two of my former students were competing in the Mutton Bustin'.  Last year when we watched it in the small arena outside, Colton said, "No way.  I'm not ever doing that!"  This year he was all about it and says he wants to try next year.  We will see.  We may have a little cowboy on our hands!
I didn't take many pictures.  Most of these are courtesy of Aunt Baa. (THANKS!)  I always have all kinds of cameras with me.  I try to capture every second and because of that I miss everything.  So, I took a break and it was awesome!  Thank goodness Baa was there!

Last week Colton had his Rodeo performance with Mrs. Barb, at school.  He did awesome!  In years past, even earlier this year in his Christmas Chapel, he would not participate in these type of things.  For the Rodeo he sang every song and did every move.  Zak and I were so proud of him and he had a great time!

Chase didn't participate in Rodeo Day this year but he made a hat...
he refused to wear!

When I grow up...

"When I grow up I want to be a Baseball Player."
-Colton age 4 1/2

It's been absolutely beautiful out so we've been spending a lot of time outside practicing for Tball.
Colton is signed up for Tball through CyFair Sports Association and we are waiting, anxiously, for a call from his coach to see when he starts.  He is really excited about it!
Until we get the call...

...We will be practicing out back!

 With Chase too.

*UPDATE* We got an email from Colton's Coach today, Opening Day is March 23!!!!!

He got a card...

...a LIBRARY card!
A few weeks ago Colton asked us to take him to the Library.
It was a rainy muggy day, so the library was a perfect way to spend our afternoon.
I'm sad to admit but it had been quite some time since I took Colton on a trip to the  library.  (We use to go a lot when he was younger.) He was so excited and knew exactly what he was looking for...
a book about space ships (his new obsession)!

Colt wanted to look around and enjoy the books but Chase was a mad man.  He colored for a few minutes but really just wanted to pull all the books off the shelf.

Bye Bye Binki

 BYE BYE BINKI!
Our house has been binki free for 9 days!

Chase is doing great with it but there have been a few times we've I've missed it...
Nap time and bed time have been a little rougher.
(He even missed an entire nap at school on Tuesday.)
When he gets upset binki always calmed him.
When he gets a little loud it's always helped quiet him.
Now, everything is going in his mouth.

On the other hand...
We get to see this sweet smile all the time.
No more binki face!
And in the 9 days he's been binki free his vocabulary has grown by 4 or 5 words and he's "talking" babbling differently and mimicking our words more often.

A Day Off

Yesterday, Zak took a day off work so we could take a trip to The Children's Museum.
Colt was up early (5:50) ready to go!
I had to include this picture if the boys getting ready to go.
So cute!
We got there right when it opened and, even I have to admit, it was a little overwhelming. We wanted to go on a week day to avoid the crowds.  We didn't think about the schools though.  There were so many kids! Big.Huge.Groups.Of.Kids.
After about an hour everyone spread out and things got a little easier to get around.
The boys had a great time. Colton really got into the activities and Chase ran around like a mad man.  About 3 seconds in, I was so thankful Zak was with us.  I don't think I could have taken both of them alone.

We played for a couple hours and Chase was exhausted (or so we thought).  We didn't stay as long as I had thought but we had seen it all and played with everything we had wanted to.  We planned on heading to lunch but got on the freeway and got stuck in awful traffic. So we decided just to head home.  The boys had a big snack in the car and Colt fell right asleep.  Chase on the other hand, was ready to party.  He ate and talked the whole way home.
We had such a fun morning.  It was a very needed day off for all of us!
