A Different Turkey Day

This Turkey Day looked so different for us.  We weren't able to celebrate with the Harrison side of the family for health reasons.  So, dad went and spent the day with mom, Becky and Allen hesitently took a long planned trip to Yosemite,  and we packed up and headed to College Station.  Andi, graciously invited us to spend the day with them.  We had a small family gathering (but more than 10...shhhhh don't tell the Mayor!). The food was excellent.  The gravy, top notch.  We loved our time with the Day and Byrd families but there was absolutely something missing.
Our first major holiday without our silly sweet  PawPaw.
We talked about him through the day, specially when his team killed the Cowboys, and we missed him horribly.  There will always be something missing in all of our celebrations from here on out.

This is 41

My 41st birthday was absolutely perfect!  A relaxing restful day followed by dinner outside on the Lake with my 4 most favorite guys.  Zak spent a couple days before my birthday installing a new kitchen sink and faucet, my birthday present from him, and I couldn't be MORE excited about it.  Sad??? Nah!
The boys picked out some beautiful jewelry for me and even custom made earrings for me at the Color Bar.  They surprised me that morning with a homemade banner since I always decorate for them.  Maybe my favorite part of the whole day since they did it all on their own.

The day before my birthday we got to see Nanny!  Since it was rainy out we had to be inside and they wouldn't allow the boys in. And, only one adult at a time.  I had to wear ALL the gear and Nanny told me I looked like an "alien". She didn't know it was almost my birthday but all I wanted was to be with her.  While I sat and talked to her, Zak and the boys danced outside the window.  She was extremely quiet, as she is lately, but she laughed at them.
And these friends right here knew I didn't want to celebrate but the kept on until I caved and they planned a sweet brunch at one of my favorite spots.  I am so grateful for these sweet friends who've helped support and carry me through one of the toughest years of my life.

Here's to hoping 41 is full of more health, happiness and togetherness than 40 was!
