Pumpkins

Last night we visited a pumpkin patch at a local church. We were luck the rain held off long enough to pick a couple pumpkins and snap a few pictures. The pictures this year were not staged, like last year, they were pictures on the go!
When we first got there Colton was in leaf heaven. He collected as many leaves as his little hands could hold.
He would NOT take pictures with mommy...

...Or daddy!

He did make a friend.

And loved the bumpy pumpkins...

...and the white pumpkins.

After lots of looking we found the perfect pumpkin just for Colton (and one for daddy too)!

Tonight we decorated and Carved our pumpkins.
Colton and I put stickers on his baby pumpkin.

But his work wasn't done...

...still working...

...getting close...

...this could be it!!!

Off to show daddy his hard work.

An artists work is never done!

Until he throws his pumpkin on the floor and it busts!

Moving on to help daddy!HALLOWEEN is ALMOST here!
We hope your night is full of CANDY and FUN!!!!

A Day at the Farm

On Sunday, we had a family outing to Dewberry Farms in Brookshire Texas. It was a beautiful Fall day and we had a great time. Dewberry Farms was full of activities for kids. In 3 or 4 years Colton will get to really enjoy all of it, but this trip he was able to play on the playground (for little ones) where he rode on a tire horse and got pushed around on a tractor bike. He and I took a ride on the corn train then we all found our way around the corn maze. Colton tried to get off the path and go through the corn a few times but he did really well leading us through the maze. He would stop every time we got to any corn husks on the ground because he wasn't sure if he should go over them or stop. Daddy wanted him to get muddy but mommy helped him avoid that! :) We walked through the barn where Colton got to pet a bunny and a horse and loved watching the baby pigs. We didn't make it out to pick a pumpkin because we had too much fun with everything else (and the line was really long for the hay ride). We have plans to visit a pumpkin patch at a local church next week so we weren't too sad about that. And the sign of a really busy and fun day...Colton was asleep before we got out of the parking lot!

I think Dewberry Farms will be a Fall tradition for years to come!

Finger Painting

Since it was a rainy, muggy fall afternoon here in lovely Houston, and we couldn't go out to play, I decided to get a little crafty. When Colton woke up, from his very short nap, he had his first finger painting experience.
As you can see in this first picture he wasn't too happy. I think we got started a little too fast after nap. He really didn't understand what was going on. He used a finger tip (and lots of help from mommy) to add leaves to a tree.
And then...
Let the fun begin!
No help needed from mommy to make a pumpkin...

...Or to paint his arm!

And our finished work! (Sorry I cant get it turned the right way)

We used homemade finger paint.
2tbls flour
water to thin (add slowly)
food coloring

Our project didn't last long but we both had a lot of fun with it and we have some great art work to show for it!!!
