Last and First

On Sunday Colton had his last ride in his baby carrier...
And his first ride in his new "big boy" car seat.

This doesn't look like a very happy face but once he got use to it he was happy as could be...

And so relaxed!

He also had fun playing with a new Christmas toy we pulled out of the closet. We thought he might enjoy it and be ready for it, it's a rider and a walker in one. Turned out, he is still a little too young for both of them but he sat on the floor with his Grandma and PawPaw and played with all the gadgets for ages!

9 months old...

As you can see we needed a little help from daddy this time so we could see the 9 month card.

Stats from our 9 month check up...
WT- 21 lb. 6.5 oz (70%)
HT- 28 inch (45%)
HC-18 3/4 inch (97%)

Colton's eight months happenings...

* Pulled up on the coffee table at Nanny and Grandads. (Mommy and daddy missed this.) Since then tries to pull up on everything whether its possible or not and pulls up holding onto your fingers.

* Has 4 bottles and three "meals" with an occasional snack. He likes the baby food and being fed more than finger foods.

*Tried meats but doesn't like them near as much as fruits and veggies.

* Had his first real people food...a french fry. The more he has the more he loves 'um.

*Choked for the first time! What a scare!

*Not crawling yet, but if he wants something he will get to it.

*Found the entertainment center the other day. That will be fun once he realizes how much he can get into.

*Enjoyed (and slept through) his first tip to the Rodeo.

*Got his first pair of cowboy boots while visiting Meemaw.

* Still sleeping through the night. Goes down about 7 or 8PM and wakes up around 7 or 8 AM (unless we wake him early on work days.) He now is addicted to being rocked and will not put himself to sleep...bad mommy for getting him use to that!

*Has a great nap schedule. Usually naps anywhere from 1-3 hours in the morning and has a short nap in the afternoon.

* Got his second tooth.

*He is becoming a much lighter sleeper. He will wake up to random noises and hates being moved while he's sleeping. There's no more falling asleep in the car and laying him straight down in his crib. If we are out and its past his bedtime and he does fall asleep in the car (which you can pretty much count on) he wakes up and is ready to party, sometimes for hours!!!

*Waves a lot. Not necessarily at people, and never when you ask him to, but randomly he will wave. The other day he spent about 3 minutes waving at the lights in Dillards.

* Had his first cough. We are now thinking it was allergies. It didn't slow him down much but it sounded pretty awful.

*Says "dada" all day everyday and even repeats it sometimes. We know he's not sure of what he's really saying but we love to hear it. The other night I even got a "momo" and cried when I walked away from him playing on the floor. "Momo" is close enough for me!!!

I feel like I blink and the months pass. Colton is such an awesome baby. He loves to be out and about. He's happy most of the time. He loves to play, as long as your sitting right next to him. He has an incredible laugh and you never know what will trigger it. We enjoyed our spring break together, it was so great to spend every day with him. His 8 month happenings may only be exciting to mom and dad and maybe his grandparents but its my documentation from the days that fly by way too fast!

We hope your last month was as full of life as ours!!!

Spring Break in Idalou Texas!

We got home yesterday from Idalou Texas where my Meemaw, aunt and uncle, and cousin live. We had a great restful time with family. Colton loved his Meemaw so much. It was great to see Meemaw with her first great grandson. She is 89 years young and doing so great. We had the best time an we are looking forward to visiting again really soon.

Playing on the floor.
Landry and Logan singing "You Are My Sunshine".
Hanging out with the ladies.
After an exciting trip to Thriftway, the local grocery store.
The girls LOVE Zak and he loves them! Out in front of Landry and Logan's new house. The next street over from Meemaw.
The girls were so sweet to him.
Colton's first pair of cowboy boots, next to Daddy's boots.
See look how cute I am!!!
They are a little big but I love my boots!!!
In the back yard.
Playing in the kitchen. (Don't worry I was right there to catch him!:)
Growing up all the kids fought over sitting in this chair. As you can see Colton loves it too!
Colton's first french fry. He wasn't into it. He really doesn't like finger foods, he loves his baby food too much!
Hanging out with Meemaw before the long trip home.

A Day at the Rodeo

Yesterday, Zak, Colton and I spent the day at the Houston Livestock Show. Rodeo time in Houston is one of my favorite times of the year and we were so excited to show Colton around. We had a great great day. We got there when the doors opened and shopped, went to the petting zoo, and ate ate ate! Colton absolutely loved the animals and being outside walking around but I think his favorite part of the day was the tram ride to and from the car. He loves the wind in his hair! Here are some pictures of us inside Reliant Center. By the time we got outside to eat and walk around the carnival Colton was ready for his afternoon nap.

And...
Saving the best for last...

I can't believe it but...

...it's about time to baby proof the Day household!
Colton pulled himself up on the coffee table yesterday at Nanny and Grandad's house. (I'm so sad because I missed it!) He still hasn't started to crawl but I'm pretty sure hewill figure it out ANY day now! I've been dreading this part for some time now and always thought I had plenty of time but goodness how time flies. So, today after work, I'm going home to organize. This weekend we are going to buy all of the safety gadgets we may need to TRY to keep Colton out of trouble.
So, I need your help, again...
What was the best baby proofing thing you have done? What worked? What didn't work? What did you never think of that you should have?

Oh yeah, and on a side note, we changed up Colton's feeding schedule and things are going great! See, I had nothing to worry about!
