1st Christmas

We had an amazing Christmas! The festivities started on Christmas Eve. We took Colton to our church for the first time for a Candle Light Christmas Eve service. He did awesome and loved the candles. After church we had both of our families over to open Colton's gifts and enjoy each others company. Early, early Christmas morning we woke up to Santa presents for Colton, Sadie and Chloe and then moved on to breakfast and presents at Nanny and Grandads and then presents and dinner at Grandma and PawPaws. After we got home, and got Colton to bed, Zak and I stayed up late putting together Coltons new toys. It was a busy busy couple of days but the best Christmas we have ever had!

Daddy is at work today and Colton and I are resting and getting some things done around the house. We have lots of family and friends visiting over the weekend.

Just a warning...there are a TON of pictures ahead!!! I took so many pictures that I completely ran down my camera batteries. Don't worry...there aren't THAT many on the blog!

* Blog completed and posted on December 24, 2008

Dear Colton,

We prayed for you , we wished for you, we thought about you...then 6 months ago today you were here. We knew we would fall in love as soon as we met you, we just didn't know how powerful that love would be. You have changed our lives, you have made us better people, you have helped us become something we always dreamed of becoming...Mommy and Daddy! As we start to celebrate your first Christmas we feel so blessed to have you here with us. You are the best Christmas present anyone could ask for. You have grown and changed so much in the past 6 months. Everyone who meets you says you look just like your Daddy, aside from your dimpled chin like Mommy. Everyone compliments your big beautiful eyes and your happy happy smile. You also have your Daddy's personality. You are so laid back and relaxed, nothing bothers you, not even a wet diaper or a hungry belly (for the most part). You could sleep through a hurricane, in fact you did in September. You love your carrots more than anything in the world, just like your mommy did. We love to watch you play with your favorite toys, sometimes you play so hard that you fall asleep mid play. Your favorite toys are your hungry caterpillar and your squeaky book, you also love the lamb on Baby Einstein and squeal with delight each time he comes on the screen. It's amazing how much you have learned in this short time. We can't wait to watch you grow. We cherish each day we have with you and never take for granted how perfect you are. We think we have a very handsome little genius on our hands!

The past 6 months have been full of so much happiness. You are all we could have hoped for and we couldn't imagine our life without you! You have filled our lives with more joy and love than we ever knew possible. Happy "half birthday" sweet baby boy!

Love Forever and Ever,
Mommy and Daddy

Just look how much you have grown!

Christmas Tour

I'm obviously off work...I have blogged more the past few days than I have all month! (This my SECOND today!) We are having a very lazy day around the house and Colton has played so hard that he fell asleep in the middle of the living room floor.
I've been seeing a lot of fellow bloggers doing Christmas tours of their house so I thought I'd share some of our Christmas decorations with you.

Mr. Snowman to greet you as you walk through the front door. He bounces and Chloe, our cat, loves to play with him.
Our Christmas tree...with so many presents!
Card Christmas tree.
Our family ornament. I love Christmas tree ornaments, I buy them everywhere I go. I have to have a new family ornament for each year. Last years was a pregnant snowlady and a snowman with Colton's due date in a heart.
The fireplace...the stocking were hung...
One of my favorite snowmen. Zak's grandmother gave me this snowman a few years ago for Christmas. Its is wrapped in a vintage 1930's quilt from the Ozark Mountains.
A few more of my beloved snowmen. Can you tell what I collect?
A pillow in the study my mom painted me years ago. It says...Snowmen will melt you're heart.
And my favorite!!!!

Merry Christmas

I know I've said it before in my past blogs but I wanted to take a minute to wish everyone a very happy, healthy and blessed Christmas. Sometimes this time of year gets so hectic that you forget what is really important. It's not the gifts you give or receive, it's who you have to celebrate the season with. Zak and I are so blessed this year. We have our family here, healthy and happy, and we have the newest little Day to join in all the fun. Watching Colton grow, holding him in our arms, knowing he is healthy, and watching him learn is the most precious gift we could ever ask for.
I thought I'd leave you with the Day family Christmas card from this year. Unfortunately, I erased a lot of the pictures that weren't "perfect" but I thought I'd share some of our out takes that were still on my camera. We had fun trying to capture that "perfect" holiday smile for Colton's first Christmas.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

I need a break...

Tomorrow is the last day of school (work) for TWO WEEKS!!! I am beyond excited! Getting back to work has been much harder than I ever thought. I have to admit, I had high hopes for this year. I figured if I had to return to work I was going to go back full of great ideas and energy. Well, as each day passes, the ideas and energy get less and less and I've really turn on the survival mode. Like I've said a million times, I do like my job but its just not the same this year. I have sweet (but very talkative) kids, supportive parents, and good friends at work but I don't have Colton. I know all of you working mommies out there understand. It stinks! This two weeks off is much needed and I'm so looking forward to it. I have my cousin and uncle in from England, and my MeeMaw and Aunt will be in right after Christmas. Zak's half brother, wife and 3 kids will be coming to Texas next week to stay through the winter. We are so excited about having so many people we love to share in Colton's first Christmas. I'm sure we are going to be exhausted once it's all said and done but we can't wait! We are planning on going to church on Christmas Eve. Then, Christmas morning we plan on getting up really early to see if Santa was good to us, because you know you're never TOO OLD or TOO YOUNG to have Santa visit. We will probably start out at my parents house and then move on to Zak's parents. We are having Christmas dinner with Zak's family since we spent Thanksgiving with my family. Colton's "half birthday" is Christmas eve. 6 months? Where has the time gone?
We hope you all have an amazing Christmas and New Year with your family and friends.

First Snow

Colton experienced his first snow last night! It wasn't much of an experience and there wasn't much snow but we will take what we can get here in warm Houston Texas. Daddy and I were much more excited about the snow than Colton. My hair was wet, Colton wasn't really dressed for the weather, and daddy wasn't in the mood for pictures but I, of course, had to catch the moment on camera!

I also have to share this picture from tonight. Colton is his mommy's boy..He LOVES carrots!!! LOVES THEM!

Thankful

I am thankful that I don't have to eat squash at every meal!
That's more like it!
I am thankful for my cousins Landry and Logan.
I am thankful I got to read the ads with MeeMaw on Friday morning.
I am Thankful for football! Here we are getting ready for the Tech game with Grandad, Daddy and John. Bad Daddy...Go Raiders!

We missed being able to spend Colton's first Thanksgiving with Zak's family but we had an absolute blast on our trip to Idalou. Colton did so great in the car ride to and from Idalou. It took about 9 hours each way and he, Sadie and I slept just about the whole time. Poor Daddy! We loved being able to see everyone and spend some time with our family. Colton loved being rocked by his great MeeMaw and playing with his cousins. He enjoyed his first veggie...squash... for Thanksgiving lunch. Well, I guess I can't say "enjoyed" but he is warming up to it after a few days. We all enjoyed lazy mornings and lots of football. Colton was such a good sport while we went shopping on Friday and Saturday. He got so much love on our trip. We miss everyone so much but are thankful for such amazing family and the time we had with them.
