5 Months Old!

*Posted November 24, 2008
Colton is 5 months old today and doing GREAT! He weighs 16 lbs 7.5 oz. I love to list things hes doing or working on for you guys but also for me. I already enjoy looking back on old posts and seeing how far we've come. So here we go, some fun things Colton did during his 5th month of life...

Colton blows raspberries and sucks on his bottom lip. He Rubs his head in a circle when he gets really tired, if only had hair to play with! He is our little acrobat. He plays with his toes and kicks his legs up over his head. When we wake him up each morning he is usually on the other side of the crib because he has kicked himself over there. Who needs to walk? He is still eating cereal between bottles and started on oatmeal yesterday. It took me a while to change from rice to oatmeal because he was having trouble adjusting to the idea of the spoon. He didn't mind the food and he'd eat what I could get in his mouth but it was quite a chore to get it in his mouth. So, we took a week and a half break. He did well with oatmeal, I think he liked the taste a little better and he's getting the hang of the spoon. I am excited to start fruits and veggies after Thanksgiving! He also laughs, really really hard, what a sweet sound. He will talk to anyone who listens and if no ones around to listen, he'll talk to himself. We were watching video of him, over the weekend, and he would talk (scream) to himself on the TV. In the mornings when he wakes himself up, and we don't have to get him up super early, we will find him in the bed just talking away. He is starting to be a little more independent. We are working on sitting up, and hes so close, but for now he will just lay on the floor and play with his little caterpillar or rattles. He has been with his Nanny for two weeks now and is doing really really well. He is a very happy content baby, he likes to know you are there and he's okay with anything. He loves to see the world and meet new people. He is so amazing!

We are looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas with Colton. We leave on Wednesday for the 10 hour drive to Idalou Texas where Colton will visit his Great MeeMaw's house for the first time. Idalou is one of our favorite places to be and we can't wait to share it with Colton. We are excited to see our family, enjoy the cold weather, and eat some yummy food!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!!

Dear Santa

Dear Santa,
I've been good ALL year...well the part I was here for!
Love,
Colton

Today we went to Bass Proshop at Katy Mills Mall and Colton met Santa. He did great! Santa didn't scare him or upset him, he was too distracted by the toy trains to even notice that Santa was holding him. We are looking forward to the holidays and making our own family traditions. I know visiting Santa each year will be part of our holiday tradition. Who knows if Colton will enjoy it as much next year as he did this year? What a FUN day!

For You "Uncle" Aron

Dear "Uncle" Aron,
I know you check up on me all the time so here are some pictures of us. Thanks for playing with me at the Gamboa's, I had fun! Mom says maybe she'll chage the song one day. Come back and play soon! We all miss you! Give "Aunt" Lisa hugs from me.
Love,
Colton

Today

Just because I have such great friends, who care so much, I wanted you to know I had an AWESOME day! Aside from missing Colton like crazy, work was great! It was one of those days where you remember why you do what you do. Now I have Colton in my arms. The day couldn't have been any better, for a work day!

I made it!

I made it through my first day back. The morning started off with a few tears (from mommy) but ended with lots of smiles when I picked Colton up. Colton wasn't too sure about the schedule change this morning, he did not want to get up at 6:30. He is use to sleeping in until 8 or even later sometimes. Mom said he played a little and slept a lot during the day.
My day, well, it was a bit crazy! I enjoyed seeing my work friends, they were extremely supportive through out the day. It was also nice to meet my new group of kids since I've heard so much about them. The kids were sweet, they asked a lot of questions about Colton. I can't say I am looking forward to going back tomorrow but I know each day will get easier and today wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
10 days until Thanksgiving Break!

The time has come...

Well, the time has come, tomorrow is my last day of maternity leave. I am already having a really tough time with it, I can't even imagine how hard Tuesday will be. Colton will be staying with my mom during the day so that makes the transition a little bit easier. He will be with someone we trust, someone who loves him, and someone he is already familiar with. I know he will be in good hands but it still breaks my heart. I feel extremely blessed to have been able to spend 4 1/2 months with him but it just wasn't enough time. I don't want to miss anything! I am trying to go into this with a positive attitude so let the count down begin... 127 work days until SUMMER BREAK!

(That sounds like way too many days...Let's start with 11 days until THANKSGIVING BREAK!)
I have to end with one of my favorite pictures of Colton from the last couple of weeks. :)
