Happy Halloween!!! (And my 50th post!)

Happy Halloween from our lil' Pirate!
Colton woke up ready to celebrate this morning. We enjoyed our day and when Daddy got him we were ready to trick-or-treat! After many many pictures we started out going to see Grandad and Aunt Becky. Aunt Becky was getting ready for a night on the town, she did not look like her self. I thought it might scare Colton but he actually laughed! Nanny is still in England but we got to talk to her on the phone. We sure miss her! We knew we wouldn't be doing much trick-or-treating but we did take Colton to the Orlowski's next door. We handed out candy with Grandad and Colton took a little nap to get ready for the next stop. After his rest, we headed over to Grandma and PawPaws. Aunt Taylor and all of her friends were getting ready for a party. It was fun to see them all dressed up. Unfortunately, we didn't get a picture of the kids because Colton was a little fussy. I think it was all the excitement of the big day. He ate, rested, and then we headed home. What a day! We had a blast and made lots of memories! Ill never see a pirate again without thinking of Colton's 1st Halloween.

4 months old!

Colton is 4 months old today!

Since last months was a novel I'll make this short and sweet.
We went to the Dr. yesterday for Coltons 4 month shots and a check up.
He weighs 14 lbs 9.5 oz (50%). He is 24 1/4 inches tall (25%). His head is 17 inches (75%).
Coltons eyes are changing from a very dark dark grey to a beautiful shade of dark brown. He grabs a hold of the toys hanging from his play mat but his favorite toy is his fingers. He hasn't yet tried to grab anything out of my hand but he's working on it. If I get it close enough to him he will hit at the object. If he does get a hold of anything it goes straight into his mouth. He is following objects really well, big and small. He is also making lots of new noises and sounds. My favorite is his grunt. When he gets really excited or wants your attention he grunts at you. Very cute! Since he is 4 months old the Dr. said we could start rice cereal anytime we want so I think we are going to try just a little bit tomorrow. We will see how he does but look for pictures...I'm sure it'll be a MESS!

I have to finish with a picture of Colton and the pumpkin Daddy carved for him during the week at a pumpkin carving party.

Surprise Surprise... its an Astros pumpkin!
(Look at that round jolly little face!)

October 20, 2007

October 20, 2007 was a day I will never forget! It was the day we found out we were pregnant! It was a day I've thought about my whole life. I always imagined how I'd find out. Would Zak be there? Would I get to surprise him in some way? Would I cry or scream from excitement? I remember so many small details from that day. Zak was at a bachelor party that weekend. I had taken a test a couple days back and it had come up negative. We had been trying for a month or two and I was anxious so I decided I'd take another test. I knew it was too early when I took the first test and I kind of thought it was a little early to find out but I took another test anyway. I tried not to get my hopes up but when I looked at the test and saw that faint faint pink line I could hardly believe my eyes. It must be a mistake! I dug the other test out of the trash, ew I know. I saw an even lighter pink line (so light you can't even see it in the picture). By this time I could feel my heart beating in my throat. Could they both be wrong? I jumped into the car and went to Walmart to buy more tests. The cashier must have thought I was crazy because I left with $30 worth of pregnancy tests. I rushed home and 2 more tests came up positive! That was enough for me...we were having a BABY!!! I jumped around and then cried. I remember hugging Sadie because no one else was home.
Just thinking about the details of that day bring back so much emotion. Zak wasn't home and I was so anxious to tell him but I couldn't do it over the phone! I spent the day looking for a piggy bank. I was going to make this announcement special and I had all day to figure out how. I must have called Zak a million times to see when he would be home. He didn't get home until about 6 that night and I was so excited to see him. When he pulled the piggy bank out of the box I'll never forget his face. He was the happiest I've ever seen him.We went to the Dr. the next day and I was only 3 weeks and 6 days pregnant. We couldn't wait to tell our family so we went straight from the Dr. to my parents and Zaks parents house to share our good news. Now, one year later look at what we have! Look how far we have come. Life couldn't be any better!

Dear Nanny

Dear Nanny,

You have been in England for almost a week now and everyone really misses you but I think I miss you the most! I miss hanging out at your house and "talking". Don't tell Daddy, but I even miss going shopping with you and Mommy. We have been real busy since you left and Mommy has taken more pictures than normal, just for you she says. (I think its just a good excuse to take more pictures. I know I'm cute but come on Mom!) We had a fun weekend. Mom already posted those pictures. This week has been pretty fun so far too. On Monday we just hung out at home. Daddy taught me to fly like Super Man.
I also had a really fun bath. I was all wrinkled by the time I got out. You know bath time is my favorite part of the day!
Last night (Tuesday) we went over to Grandma and PawPaws. Aunt Ginny was in from California so Grandma cooked fried chicken, mash potatoes, corn on the cob and homemade biscuits. I played with Nana and PawPaw on the floor for ever and then I had to watch everyone eat that yummy dinner.

I had a bit of a tough night because I think something bit me. I cried for a real long time and my leg got all red. It really worried everyone, but I was okay. After lots of tears it started to feel better and I played my little heart out until we left.
Tonight Grandad came over and Mommy made Enchiladas and Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies. I slept through dinner tonight so I didn't know what I was missing out on. When I woke up Grandad fed me and then Daddy and Grandad put together my exasaucer. You can see Sadie helped!
Its just a little too soon for me to really have fun in it. We will have to try it out again when I can hold myslef up a little better and I figure out how to play with all of the toys on it. I enjoyed it for about 2 minutes then I was over it!
I am still sleeping through he night. Last night I slept for 10 hours! Mommy had to come in and wake me up this morning. I love the mornings, as soon as I see Mommy I give her the biggest smile. She thinks its because I see here but really I know food is coming! I also decided today that I don't need my binki, I like my fingers much better! When my fingers fall out of my mouth I can put them back in all by myself! Mommy and Daddy aren't too happy about this but what can they do!?!?!

Tomorrow we don't have much planned, I think me andMommy are going to meet Grandad at Sam's to get a few things. Its been pretty rainy here in Houston so we will only go if it's not raining. Friday I'm sure we will meet up with Aunt Becky and Grandad for Friday Night Dinner (we will miss having you there). On Saturday I have TWO birthday parties to go to. I'm so popular! Kaydens 2nd birthday party is at 11 and then Leahs 2nd birthday party is at 6 in Sugarland. Don't worry Mommy will take pictures of that too.
I'm off for a little nap before my bath and bottle. I love you and wish you were home with me! We all miss you and can't wait to see you. Hope you are having lots of fun!
xoxo
Love, Colton
