Family get away

Last weekend, we took a little family get away to Barton Creek Resort in Austin.
We left early Thursday morning and made our first stop two minutes from the house for breakfast.
Bug Juice and Lucky Charms.
Breakfast of champions!
Two hours later we made stop number two at Bucees #2!
We went a bit out of the way on our trip up to stop in Gruene.  One of our favorite places.
Gristmill for lunch!

The boys loved looking over the river.
 Next stop, Gruene Hall.
On the way into Austin we had planned to stop and look at some shoes at Cabeleas for Zak.  We thought the boys would enjoy the stop...Obviously they weren't up for it.
We got to the hotel and the boys were so excited to stay in a hotel.  It was their first hotel experience.
We took a (very) quick walk around and took NO time to hit the pool.
 And, order a few drinks.

After we got cleaned up we walked around a bit more.
The grounds were beautiful!

We headed Downtown so we could eat at Homeslice Pizza.

They gave the boys dough to play with while we waited.
Colt loved it...
 Chase, not so much.
Had to have a cupcake after pizza.
We got back to the hotel and tried to go for a night swim but as we walked through the back doors we noticed the sky was filled with lightning.  We headed back up to the room for pjs, cuddling, and tv.  The boys were out in no time. Chase started out in his pack and play but ended up here, with me...Taking up all the room.  He was comfy but I don't know that I've slept worse.
Poor Zak didn't have it much better.
After a long long long long night the sun was up and breakfast (and lots of coffee was served).  The hotels breakfast buffet was amazing.  Wish I could start off every day like that.

Mini golf was next on the agenda.  The boys had never played before so they were very excited.  Zak and I got clubs and balls and we were ready for a fun game of mini golf.  Zak was sadly disappointed because they just wanted to run around.  He said, "I wanted them to compete!" In a few years they'll be beating both of us!

Sweet Chase lost interest quickly and played with rocks.
It was an awesome shaded area and we were the only ones playing so Zak and I sat back and enjoyed the boys.

Right next to Mini Golf was a nature trail.  It was beautiful.

We even saw a couple deer.  Spotted by Colton.

 Chase loved the elevators!
It didn't take long for us to head back to the pool.

After a day at the pool we headed up to get ready for dinner.
Here is Colt acting like Daddy.
We headed to Lake Travis to eat at The Oasis.  The boys fell asleep in the car on the way and had a really hard time waking up. Dinner was good, the view was awesome, but it was hot outside and we had two very tired boys on our hands.
That evening we had plans to go see the Bats fly.  At the last minute Colton decided he really wanted to go for a night swim.  Hey, it was their vacation so night swim it was!
They had such fun.  Colton kept saying, "Ive never swam outside in the dark!"
Look at that smile on his face.

Back to the room, baths and more cuddling.
Our last day was relaxing.  We watched cartoons. Packed up and got dressed and headed down for breakfast and a round of mini golf.
The boys absolutely loved the hotel, and so did mommy and daddy. It was such a great little get away.
On our way out of town we stopped to see one of my oldest friends, Mandy and her husband Jared.  It was nice to visit and see all they have done to get ready for their sweet little girl, coming in December!
And the trip ended with one last stop at Bucees and Dippin' Dots!
