Happy Birthday AMERICA!

After years of co-hosting 4TH of July on our street, we decided to change things up a bit.  Our sweet friends invited us down to Galveston and we all decided to go.  Some of our friends went for a long weekend, but we had things we needed to be home for and Zak worked Friday so we just took a day trip down.  It was a breezy overcast day which made it a perfect day for the beach, although a bit windy! Unfortunately, there's been a lot of talk about the heat of the water causing bacteria in the water. I worried about it all week but felt okay about it after talking to the boys pediatrician.  Until....Chase walked in at 5:30, the night before we leave, with a huge gash on his foot. He had fallen.  12 hours before going to the beach! So....that meant no water for him.  He begged and pleaded he wanted to still go and not get in the water.  It turned out to be a bit harder for him not to get in but he sure was a trooper.  Colt spent the whole day in the water we hardly ever saw him unless I was pulling him out to reapply the sunscreen.  Chase built a lot of castles, hunted for a lot of broken shells, and ate a lot of sweets (note the twirler and hotdog combo he had for lunch since he told everyone, "I don't like bread")!
We got home in time to get things cleaned up and crawl into bed to hear hundreds of fireworks going off around us.  It's the first year we've listened instead of partaking.  We didn't even go outside to watch we were so tired.
We really had such a great time with our friends and Lisas family.
It'll be a 4th we won't soon forget!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!
