Spur of the Moment

Friday morning we woke up early to drive out to Deer Park with Zak.  He had a quick errand to run for work before Easter weekend started so we decided to ride with him.  We met up quickly with his customer and decide to take the boys on the Ferry.  On our way, we drove by The San Jacinto Monument.  The weather was beautiful and it had just opened so we decided to drive in to let the boys run around.  The museum inside was open, Colton (and Zak) absolutely loved all the history and looking at the old guns and swords.  I think Colton would have stayed inside the museum all day.  Unfortunately, Chase wasn't so into it.  He realized pretty quickly that his voice echoed in the building so all he did was scream to hear himself echo.  The boys ran around outside a little more, then we drove over to see Battle Ship Texas.  We got out to take a few pictures and the boys were so excited to see it we decided to go in and walk around.  It was really really neat.  Colton loved every second of it.  Chase didn't love going down into the ship.  It was very tight down there and it scared him going through the small halls.
We don't ever do things like this on the spur of the moment.  Usually everything is planned out but it was so nice to just do something because we ended up there.  The boys are at a great age.  They don't need much anymore to make it through the day.  We rode the Ferry across the Ship Channel and stopped for snacks on the way home.
It was a great start to out 3 day weekend!
