Wedding Weekend

Life has been crazy around here. I made myself sit down and do this blog this afternoon. It takes so long to download pictures on Blogger. Anyways I did it. I promise to be a better blogger!

Last week we went to San Diego for Josh and Julies wedding. It was a short and very busy trip but we had a blast. Josh and Julie bent over backwards to make all of their guests feel welcome. It was an amazing and very memorable long weekend.
There are so many pictures in this blog...get ready!

Colt is such a big boy he gets his own seat on the airplane. He did really well. Mommy was prepared with new toys and lots of snacks. No nap heading there (until we were landing in SD) but on the way home he slept most of the flight from SD to Dallas. He loved stopping over in Dallas because we got to ride a "train" from terminal to terminal. He couldn't have been more excited. Here is the little house we shared with a large group of friends from Houston in La Jolla.

We were at the wedding rehearsal overlooking the Pacific at La Velencia Hotel. Beautiful!!!

The rehearsal dinner was at a neat restaurant right next door to a Wyland studio. Colton was enthralled by this glass shark. It kept him happy and talking for almost an hour. He showed everyone at the dinner his "ssark".

After a nightmare of a rehearsal he actually walked to the isle with me...

...and down to Josh and daddy who was holding Cars gummies and a sucker. Notice he's carrying Cars gummies and not the pillow. Mommy had that in her hand.

I think the glasses really finish off the tux! He was a hit with the guests and the photographer.

Colton had such a fun time at the reception but after running mommy around the entire hotel during the ceremony, showing off for everyone, eating his weight in "ketkup" and dancing the night away he just couldn't hang anymore. He fell asleep on my shoulder on the dance floor and was out for the evening. Sweet Greis let mommy and daddy enjoy themselves while she got in some Colton cuddles.

The morning after the Wedding we got up early for some family time. We had an awesome breakfast and headed out to see the sights of La Jolla CA. (Please don't mind my BIG hair. I don't know was in the air but CA made my hair HUGE!)

We got to visit the seals at Seal Cove. Colton loved watching the waves break over the walkway.

After some shopping and a trip to the candy store Colton was wiped out. In this picture he had just finished the last bite of his rock candy and fell fast asleep with it in his mouth. (Don't worry as soon as I snapped the picture I made sure he wasn't going to choke.)

Saturday afternoon we headed to La Jolla Shore for a beach b-b-q. It was a beautiful day but the water was really cold. We put our feet in but Colton wanted nothing to do with it. Smart boy!

By the end of the evening everyone was getting cold and all the Texas people were wanting to watch the UT TT game so we headed to The Brewhouse. Colton enjoyed playing with his new friend Troy.

On Sunday afternoon we started our journy home.

We had an awesome time. Its fun to show Colton new things and take him to new places. Its so exciting to see his eyes light up. He did so great the whole trip. We look forward to going back and visiting again some day soon.

CONGRATS Mr. and Mrs. Gamboa. We love you guys and were so thankful to be a part of your special day. Thanks for helping to make our stay so amazing.

FIRST first day!

Before it was time to leave, daddy gave him a little pep talk about how to act and what school would be like.Daddy helped him get all of his things together. And, he was ready to head out the door for his FIRST first day of school!Mommy of course insisted on more pictures.

He enjoyed breakfast in mommy's class when we got to school.

And, headed straight into his FIRST first day of school with Ms. Shirley and Ms. Leslie.

He put his lunch box away in his cubby.

And continued to play while mommy snuck away.

I was told there were waves of sadness and crying in the morning but that he had a great time playing outside, ate most of his lunch, and even took a short nap!

Through out the day I peeked in on him and he was always doing great. As soon as he saw me at the door to pick him up he started crying and came straight to me with the biggest hug.

I'd say his FIRST first day was a success and I know it'll only get better!

He didn't want to leave the building, he wanted to stay at "cool". When I asked him if he wanted to sleep at school he just said "map-map" (nap-mat). I guess that was a yes!

My first day of teaching Pre-K was awesome. In fact, it was my 7th first day of school and it was by far the BEST! The kids are all so sweet. My co-teacher is phenomenal. All in all the day just ran so smoothly.

Fall is in the air...

Well, not really it's still definitely summer here in HOT Houston. But, seeing that next week will be September we are starting to feel Fall coming.

The boys are getting ready for the football season with their matching tats.

(You can't imagine how many pictures we took to try to get a good one. This was the best we could do.) And, there may have been a little early decorating done this weekend.

(It is my favorite and since I can't justify keeping it out all year long I have to put it out for as long as possible.)

The start of a new journey

When I left teaching, I thought I'd never look back. I packed up everything after giving away tons and tons of teaching materials with the hopes that I may never need it again. I knew my whole life that my "dream job" was to be a stay-at-home-mom and wife. For the last year, I have enjoyed every single minute of being at home with Colton and taking care of my family but I have missed teaching. I really loved teaching. I loved the planning, I loved the organizing, I loved the lessons and I loved the kids. This summer I got the opportunity to interview at Foundry, a local church, and was offered a position. It was exactly what I was looking for, 2 days a week for 5 hours a day, teaching 4-5 years olds and Colton could come with me for free! The money's not much, but every little bit will help and being able to have Colton right there with me is just perfect. He will be just 2 doors down in Mother's Day Out (MDO) with the two sweetest teachers. I'm still, first and foremost, a stay-at-home-mommy and wife. Instead of thinking of this as "work" (which scares me to death and makes me feel like I'm not a stay-at-home-mom anymore)I am going to think of Foundry as my new "hobby". It'll be a time for me to be creative and teach and a time for Colton to grow and learn. After our first day of inservice and a few days of setting up my room I feel part of the "Foundry Family". Everyone is so kind and welcoming and the freedom to teach as I want is awesome. I am so excited about the start of this new journey!

It Can't Be This Easy

Tonight after bath Colton asked to go "peeepeah" (pee pee) in the potty. Thinking he just wanted to play I put him on his little potty. He sat there about 2 minutes, with a very determined look on his face, and went PEE PEE!!! I was so excited I picked him up (naked and all) and ran outside to get daddy who was in the middle of mowing the yard. He was so proud of himself and he absolutely made mommy and daddy's night! Now, I'm not naive, I've heard potty training horror stories from all of you. I know it can't be this easy but we will take it one day at a time and tonight was a great start!

And, your mommy was so brave and excited to be able to hold you.

You were 6 and 1/2 weeks early but we are so glad your here and doing so well.

Your mommy and I have known eachother almost our whole life. It was so special to me to make it to the hospital right when you were being born.

What a blessing you are.
We can't wait to have you over for a play date!!!!

It's NO fun alone

It's been incredibly hot here this summer, hotter then I remember any summer ever being. We haven't spent too much time outside because of the heat so last night after dinner we took Colton outside to play in the sprinklers. (It was after 7pm and it was still ridiculously hot!)

Colton wasn't too sure what to think of it all at first but quickly discovered that it's no fun to play in the sprinklers alone.

His tears worked really quickly....

They had a blast running around the back yard and I'm sure that laughter could be heard down the street. As I watched them...

...I couldn't help but smile to myself...

...Because I am beyond blessed to have these amazing guys in my life.
